Bodyweight adjustment

Wilks, DOTS, and IPF GL

Three published ways to compare a total across body weight. IPF meets have used GL points since May 2020. DOTS is the score many federations outside the IPF still publish. Wilks here is the original formula, not the 2020 revision.

A checked example

A man at 90 kg with a 600 kg total scores DOTS 387.96, Wilks 383.04, and IPF GL 79.77. The big numbers round those to one decimal. IPF GL on this page is classic raw powerlifting, the full three-lift meet, not equipped lifting and not bench-only.

If squat, bench, and deadlift are all filled in, their sum replaces the total box. Scores are math, not a placing.

Questions

Which score should I use?

DOTS and IPF GL are the ones meets use now. Wilks here is the original formula, kept so an old total can be compared with itself.

Why is body weight limited?

The published DOTS curve is only defined inside a body-weight range. Outside that range the page uses the nearest edge and says so.
